Welcome to the Department of Adult Education

Welcome to the Adult Education Program!

Truman College Adult Education is a comprehensive program of free classes for adult students who need to learn or improve their English language or basic literacy skills, obtain a GED certificate, or prepare for the Citizenship exam. We offer daytime, evening and weekend classes at the Truman College campus, at about 11 off-campus sites, and at the Lakeview Learning Center.

Our hours are Mon-Thurs: 8:30 am-7:15pm, Fri: 9am-3pm, and Sat: 9am-12:30pm.

 

Mission statement

The mission of the Adult Education Division of the City Colleges of Chicago is to provide adults with preparatory and developmental instruction in Adult Basic Education (ABE), Citizenship, English as a Second Language (ESL), and/or General Educational Development (GED) to meet students' individual goals. Individual goals may include post-secondary education, employment skills training, and/or personal and career enhancement.
